Little Hero Book is a personalized children's book company that turns one photo of your child into a hardcover storybook where they are the illustrated hero, made for parents and grandparents who want a gift a kid will actually recognize themselves in.
It's built by two people: Niels, a developer in Texas, and Maelys, a UI/UX designer with eight years in the craft. One makes the magic work. The other makes it feel like magic.
One main product, a few things around it, and the same idea running through all of them: the child is the point.
Pick one of our stories, upload a photo, and your child is illustrated as the main character on every page of a 26-page premium hardcover. Up to three characters can share the story, so a sibling or a grandparent can come along.
Start a bookOnce the book is generated, you can rewrite any sentence, regenerate any illustration and flip through every page. Nothing goes to the printer until you approve it.
See what is includedColoring pages, name tracing worksheets, a handwriting sheet generator and a photo-to-coloring-page tool. All free, all in the browser, no account needed.
Browse the printablesWhite-label personalized books, bulk print on demand and API integration for gift shops, hospitals, schools and corporate gifting. We handle printing and fulfillment.
Bulk and B2B ordersPersonalized books have been around for decades. Here is where ours part ways with the usual approach.
Hooray Heroes and Librio build your child from menus of hair, skin and eye options, and Wonderbly mostly personalizes the name and a chosen avatar. We redraw your actual child from a photo and keep them looking like themselves from the first page to the last.
At our August 2026 check, Wonderbly, I See Me, Hooray Heroes and Librio didn't let you edit the story text. In ours, every line is yours to change, so the book can use the nickname, the inside joke and the dog's real name.
Every page is previewed, and any illustration can be regenerated as many times as you like. A drawing you don't love is a five-second fix, not a refund conversation.
Every book is $34.99 for the same 26-page premium hardcover, plus shipping. Hooray Heroes charges $46.99 for most titles. We have no premium edition, because there is nothing in the book we would want to take out.
Photos are used to illustrate your book and nothing else. Neither we nor our AI providers train models on them, and they are permanently deleted within 10 weeks.
From photo to premium hardcover in four easy steps. The whole setup takes about five minutes.
Add your child's name, age, and a favorite photo. Any clear photo of their face works.
Choose from magical adventures written for their age, from toddler tales to big-kid quests.
Watch your child appear on every page in minutes. Tweak any word or regenerate any illustration.
A premium hardcover book is printed and delivered to your door in 7–11 business days.
Email contact@littleherobook.com or use the chat on any page. Either way, it reaches the two of us, not a call center.
Every book is printed to order in the United States and arrives in 7 to 11 business days. We ship to the United States and Australia.
If your book arrives damaged or misprinted, send us a photo within 14 days of delivery and we'll reprint and reship it free.
Little Hero Book is two people. There is no call center and no faceless "we": when you write to us, the people reading are the ones who built the thing.
Most personalized books work the same way: your child's name goes into the text, and a generic illustrated kid stands in for them. Kids notice. A four-year-old can tell in about a second whether the child on the page is them.
Little Hero Book exists to pass that test: your actual child, drawn from a photo, in a story you can read and rewrite before a single page prints.
Co-founder · Engineering
Developer · Texas, USA
Niels builds everything under the hood: the story engine, the illustration pipeline that keeps your child looking like your child for 26 pages, the editor, and the handoff that gets the finished book to the printer. If a regenerate button just works, that's Niels's department.

Maelys has spent eight years designing digital products and designs everything you see and touch here, from the story picker to the book editor. The job is turning a genuinely complicated process into about five minutes of picking, uploading and grinning at the screen, on a laptop or a phone.
