Teaching the Letter E
The sound it makes
Short "e" as in egg and elephant. It is the vowel children confuse with short "i" most often.
How the letter is formed
A horizontal line across the middle first, then the curve up, over and round to the bottom. It is the only letter that begins with a sideways stroke.
Words that start with E
The capital E is three parallel bars and a spine: four long thin areas. Thick outlines make it far less fiddly for a small child, so switch the thickness up for this one.
Colouring a letter is not handwriting practice, and it is not meant to be.
